  • Why did we change the name from the Cancer Cabinet to the 1974 Society?

    The 1974 Society expands and diversifies the impact by supporting cancer care initiatives across UT Health San Antonio, previously the Cancer Center Cabinet supported the Mays Cancer Center and Institute for Drug Discovery. Membership now also includes the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute, campus-wide cancer research and drug discovery, as well as cancer-affiliated work at the Multi-Specialty and Research Hospital.

  • What is the impact of the 1974 Society?

    Funds from the 1974 Society support all our cancer care programs, including, but not limited to: Advancing groundbreaking cancer research; funding leading-edge technology; developing phase I clinical drug trials; expanding critical patient care; services in our communities; and training and education of staff.

  • When will memberships renew?

    The 1974 Society is a rolling 12-month membership program that renews annually the same month as the previous qualifying membership gift date.

  • Can a donor make a gift to any cancer program-related fund?

    Only annual gifts of $1,500 or more to the 1974 Society fund qualify for membership. This fund supports the greatest needs of UT Health San Antonio's cancer care programs.
