compassionate care.

At the School of Nursing, our vision is to make lives better by promoting health as an act of social justice. We strive to provide equal healthcare services and nursing education for all individuals, without exception. Our students deliver care in every clinical setting from hospital to neighborhood clinic to disaster relief missions.

Established in 1969, the School of Nursing has gained national recognition for innovative teaching, quality research, compassionate care and community service for our South Texas community and the world. In fact, we are ranked in the top 5% of nursing schools nationwide for our graduate and undergraduate programs.
